Universal Genève Space-Compax Steel, black dial
Universal Genève, 1966–1968
Why It Matters
Universal Genève's dive chronograph. Built between 1966 and 1968, the Space-Compax wrapped a chronograph in an asymmetric case drawn from the second generation Polerouter Sub, a shape that shielded the pushers and toughened the watch for the water. It runs the Valjoux 72, a twelve hour chronograph, in a thirty six millimetre steel case, and came with two dials: a black one with silver counters and an Art Deco twelve, and an all black one with U-shaped markers. It carries references in the 885104 family.
