Universal Genève
Compax 'Evil Nina'
Why It Matters
The black 'reverse-panda' counterpart to the Nina Rindt. Sharing the 36mm steel case and the manual caliber 85, Universal Genève's Valjoux 72, the Evil Nina inverts the colour scheme: a black dial with white registers, again three of them in the Valjoux 72 layout of running seconds, thirty-minute and twelve-hour counters. A red central chronograph hand appears on some examples but is not universal. The black-dial configuration is the thematic opposite of the white Nina Rindt; its representative reference is 885103/01, established from case and caseback cataloguing rather than dial colour alone. The white Nina Rindt is 885103/02; the two must not be conflated.
