Honus Wagner

Honus Wagner's T206 card was withdrawn from a widely distributed tobacco-card series, leaving it markedly scarcer than most other players in the set. That limited distribution, together with Wagner's standing in baseball history, explains its central place in collecting. The reason for withdrawal remains disputed; opposition to tobacco should not be presented as a settled account of the card's origin.
