Omega Speedmaster Steel, black dial
Omega, 1959–1962
Why It Matters
The second-generation Speedmaster and the first Omega in space: Wally Schirra wore his personal ref. 2998 aboard Sigma 7 in October 1962, three years before NASA formally issued the model. It introduced alpha hands and the black aluminium tachymeter bezel that would define the line.
