Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm Steel
Jaeger-LeCoultre, 1959–1962
Why It Matters
An early automatic dive watch with an alarm. Released in 1959, the Deep Sea Alarm, reference E857, was the first automatic diver's wristwatch with an alarm: instead of a rotating bezel, a vibrating alarm on the calibre 815 told a diver when to head for the surface. Two dials exist, an American one signed LeCoultre with no lume, and a European one signed Jaeger-LeCoultre. It is distinct from the later Polaris and the dress Memovox.
