Heuer Bundeswehr Steel, black dial
Heuer, 1960s onward
Why It Matters
A German air force flyback. The Bundeswehr, reference 1550SG, was issued to German military pilots as a flyback chronograph, first made by Leonidas and then by Heuer after it bought the brand. Its large forty three millimetre steel case holds the manual Valjoux 230 flyback, and the dial carries running seconds at nine, a thirty minute counter at three, and a red 3H mark that flags its tritium luminous. It is the 1550SG, distinct from the later 1560.
