Why It Matters
Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's first collected Death Note volume begins the series in book form. Shueisha published the Japanese volume in April 2004. This opening volume is a publication milestone separate from the series' magazine debut. Edition and printing must be established from an individual copy; a volume-one cover alone does not prove a first printing.
