Bulova Accutron Spaceview ref. 214 watch front

Bulova

Accutron Spaceview

Why It Matters

The first electronic wristwatch. Bulova's Accutron replaced the balance wheel with a 360 Hz tuning fork, and the 'Spaceview' exposed that mechanism through a reverse-printed crystal, revealing the green circuitry beneath. The caliber 214 kept time to about two seconds a day, and Accutron technology was used on US space missions.
