Audemars Piguet
Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
Why It Matters
The perpetual-calendar version of the Royal Oak. On the opening day of Basel 1984, Audemars Piguet showed the first Royal Oak with a perpetual calendar, reference 25554, and the reference 25654 that followed became the volume model of the first era. Both run the ultra-thin automatic calibre 2120/2800 and share one quiet signature: no leap-year indicator. Day, date, month, and moon phase sit on the tapisserie dial inside Gerald Genta's octagonal case. It is the perpetual calendar, distinct from the time-only Royal Oak Jumbo.
