The Hobby Got an Arena Operator

MARI, the holding company founded by Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro, acquired Collect-A-Con, the touring event business built around trading cards, anime, gaming, and pop culture. Sports Business Journal reported that Collect-A-Con has 24 shows planned for 2026, averages about 25,000 attendees per event, and draws more than 500,000 participants annually.
The deal matters because it treats the card show as a live entertainment format. Collect-A-Con is not just a room full of dealer tables. It is a traveling marketplace, a fan convention, a signing floor, a content set, and a retail environment wrapped into one.
Emanuel and Shapiro understand how to turn live attention into media, sponsorship, talent, and repeatable event economics. That is the real signal. Collectibles are no longer only being organized by auction houses, grading companies, and marketplaces. The next layer is experience infrastructure.
The best collecting still happens around objects, but the culture forms around gathering. People want the card, the manga, the slab, the autograph, and the story of being there. Collect-A-Con gives that behavior a national circuit.
For PRVNCE, this is a category-defining move. The internet made the objects searchable and liquid. Live events make them social again.
