Yao Ming, the first overall pick of the 2002 draft, played nine seasons at center for the Houston Rockets and made eight All-Star teams. The Shanghai-born center became the most prominent link between the NBA and China, and his selection made him the first international player without American college experience taken first overall. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
