Jim Thorpe, a citizen of the Sac and Fox Nation, won the pentathlon and decathlon at the 1912 Olympics, becoming the first Native American to win Olympic gold for the United States. He was stripped of the titles for having played semi-professional baseball; the IOC restored his medals in 1983 and recognized him as sole champion in 2022. He also played professional football, baseball and basketball.
